Bondi Heart Pattern Test Application
Thank you for your interest in joining the SarahMo Knitting Journey as a pattern tester! But lets go over the basics.
DEADLINE FOR TEST KNIT: Sunday 12 April 2025
The pattern is written for sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL. The pattern provides options to vary the length as shown in the photos. Orange and Pink are in Large, while the Pink is Medium.
You will need to work to a deadline for the test knit, feedback and photos.
As a token of my appreciation, testers will receive the final version of the pattern and can select any other pattern within the Knitting Journey Collection.
SARAHMO’S KNITTING JOURNEY
SarahMo’s ‘Knitting Journey’ methodology is for all knitters, but it is developed in a way to provide beginners with hope and inspiration. It is graded from 1 to 10 to help knitters navigate their knitting journey.
This pattern is graded a Level 7 because of Intarsia and Fair-Isle techniques and the sophisticated decreasing stitches around the armholes.
NEEDLES
Straight Needles - 10 mm / US 15 and 12 mm / US 17.
Circular Needles (for neckband) - 10 mm / US 15 • 50-60 cm / 20-24 in length.
YARN
Any super chunky yarn can be used as long as you match gauge. Always knit a gauge swatch beforehand and adjust your needle size if necessary. Here is the yarn that I used.
GAUGE
8 stitches and 12 rows to 10 cm / 4 in for stockinette stitch on 12 mm / US 17 needles., after blocking.
CONSTRUCTION
This crewneck is worked flat from the bottom up in stockinette stitch. You will work the back first to customise the length to your preference before working the front. The heart is integrated using a mixture of intarsia and fair isle techniques, using only one colour.
You will use sophisticated decreasing stitches at both the armholes and neck to gracefully direct them to the heart, enhancing the visual flow of the design. Piece together with the mattress stitch, seamlessly connecting sides and sleeves. The hem, cuffs, and neckband are elegantly ribbed, featuring a contrasting colour to frame your sweater.
