Bondi Girl Pattern Test Application
Thank you for your interest in joining the SarahMo Knitting Journey as a pattern tester!
Deadline for the Test Knit: 5 August 2025

The pattern is written for sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL. The photos show L and S but keen to get testers for the other sizes.
I will need to work to a deadline for the test knit, feedback and photos. This is not just a free pattern but I hope you will support me in helping me ensure the pattern is of the highest quality after time spent designing, knitting (and reknitting it), writing the pattern and having it edited.
As a token of my appreciation, testers will receive the final version of the pattern and can select any other pattern within the Knitting Journey Collection.
The SarahMo Knitting Journey
I am developing patterns for all levels from 1 to 10, each level building on the previous level to provide beginner knitters hope and inspiration. Graded 1 to 10 to help knitters navigate their knitting journey.
I have graded the Bondi Girl Vest a Level 6 because of the Duplicate Stitch technique and the sophisticated decreasing stitches around the neck and armholes.
Needles
Straight Needles - 10 mm / US 15 and 12 mm / US 17.
Circular Needles (for neckband) - 10 mm / US 15 - 50-60 cm / 20-24 in length.
Yarn
Any super chunky yarn can be used as long as you match gauge. Always knit a gauge swatch beforehand and adjust your needle size if necessary. Here is the yarn that I used.

Gauge
7 stitches and 10.5 rows to 10 cm / 4 in for stockinette stitch on 12 mm / US 17 needles after blocking.
Construction
This V-neck is worked flat from the bottom up in stockinette stitch, with the Bondi Girl motif added later using Duplicate Stitch. You will work the back first to customise the length to your preference before working the front. There is an option to work the bottom section to the armhole in the round.
You will adopt sophisticated decreasing stitches at both the armholes and neck to provide an elegant finish. The neck and armhole trims are worked in rib stitch in the round, and offer the opportunity to introduce a contrasting colour to enhance the vest’s visual appeal.
You will join the shoulder seams using the Grafting Stitch technique and then use the Mattress Stitch to bring the sides together if not knit in the round.
